ACA 5 Passes Senate Appropriations Committee, Heads to Senate Floor

The Opportunity for All Coalition today celebrated the California State Senate Appropriations Committee’s approval of ACA 5, which sends the bill to the Senate floor for a full vote. If the vote is successful on the Senate floor, California voters will officially have the opportunity to reinstate affirmative action statewide.

The Opportunity for All Coalition today celebrated Rep. Karen Bass’ (CA-37) support letter for ACA 5, Asm. Dr. Shirley Weber’s (D – San Diego) bill allowing California voters to reinstate affirmative action programs. The letter written by Rep. Bass — an iconic civil rights leader in her own right — was cosigned by U.S. Senators Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein, along with 22 members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
